• Wake Up With a Song

    November 14, 2007 - Comments (3)

It never fails. Every morning at about the same time, I hear this tiny little voice singing a tiny little melody through the baby monitor. She doesn’t wake up crying. She doesn’t wake up complaining. She wakes up singing the most innocent beautiful made up melody that I could listen to forever.
I wish I woke up like that every morning. I’m sure there was a time when I was Lulu’s age, before the worries of the world followed me to bed each night, that I too, woke up singing a new song every day. As I get older, it seems like those days are more seldom. Instead, I wake up with a mind already racing through what must be done in the day ahead. Counting all that has to be accomplished before I can even begin to think about singing. (and that’s what I do for a living!)
Psalm 96:1 “Sing to the Lord a new song.”
Psalm 40:3 “He Put a new song in my mouth.”
How different would my days look if I woke up with a song in my heart like Lulu? Lord, help me to sing you a new song each day. I want to focus on you from the start of each day, and away from my problems. -mw

      Hi Matt,
I love your message here. How precious is the sweetness of a child and the unique song she brings into the world!
The manager of music industry development for Gospel Music Channel, Tammi, mentioned you might be willing to do a blog like this for our web site (we’re launching a new site at the end of this month) and I’ve been brought on to write, edit, gather content, etc.
I know you’re already busy maintaining your blog here as well as millions of other activities, but if you have the time and interest to squeeze one more in, I’d love to talk to you about it.
      Thanks so much,

Hey, can you please write a book. I definitely believe you have something to say to this generation. You remind me of Donald Miller, Blue like Jazz. What do you have to say?
      God Bless.
