Today’s blog is dedicated to my friend, Sam Mizell. He said he read my blog about “The Motions,” and was keen to observe that I never talk about him in my blogs. So, here you go, Sammy. This blog’s for you.

Sam, is one of the unsung heroes of the Christian Music Industry among other genres. He’s a crazy talented singer/songwriter/producer/musician whose name you could find hidden in the credits of many records you buy (including mine.)

Several years ago, when I first moved to Nashville, my publisher set me up with Sam to help me record one of my first songs. That was the start of an amazing friendship and creative relationship that would lead to so many songs!!!

Sam has been a co-writer on songs like “The End,” “The Turnaround,” “Out of My Hands,” all from my first album “Happy.” He also wrote “Next Thing You Know” with me from the album “History.”

We wrote 7 of the songs on “Something to Say,” together inluding the title cut, the first single “You Are Everything,” and the song we just leaked last week, “The Motions.”

Recently, we co-wrote 3 songs for Mandisa’s record including the first single, “Only the World.”

So, like I said, he’s crazy talented. There are a lot of people that work like crazy to make an album come together that may not get the credit they deserve. Sam, is one of those people. And while this blog, may not cover all the credit deserve, hopefully it is a small token of my appreciation…
