• Medford and the Case of the Missing Shoe

10am: All was calm in Medford, Oregon. It was a cool morning, even though the sun was shining. An apple for breakfast and a ride to the local gym were the only things on my agenda.

10:20am: I secured a ride to the local gym. After I was dropped off, I headed to the locker room to change for my workout.

10:24am: I was looking through my gym bag and located my left shoe. I put the shoe on and securely tied my laces.

10:25am: I reached for the other shoe. No shoe. I dug through the whole bag. No shoe. How could this be? I had just been dropped off at a gym to exercise with only one shoe.

10:26am: After considering my options, I realized that working out with one show wasn’t one of them. So, humbly I called for another ride back to the bus to look for the missing shoe.

10:45am: I arrive back at the bus and begin the search for the missing shoe. At this point, theft has not been ruled out.

10:49am: I question Jeremy Camp and tobyMac, to see if for some reason they stole my shoe. They seem to be telling the truth. And their alibi checks out.

11:00am: After questioning all tour personnel I begin making plans to buy new shoes. Until, suddenly I think of one last place where my shoe could have been hiding. I check the bay under the bus where my guitars are packed and what do you know? There is my one lonely shoe waiting to be discovered and put back on the foot of its rightful owner.

11:10am: With some degree of humiliation I once again make the trip from the bus to the gym. The shoes were glad to be back together again and they carried me for 5 strong miles on that Medford treadmill.

    CASE CLOSED.

Hey Matthew… I love, love, love your new cd. Great songs! A friend in the UK recommended it to me, and he was definitely right.

      Matthew,
Do you have an accompaniment cd on the song “History”. My daughter is 12 and is going into the semi-finals of the singing competition and wants to sing “History”, but we can’t find it.

Hahahahahaha! That’s too funny! I bet you’ll never go to the gym again without first checking to make sure you have both shoes (but don’t forget the socks too, don’t want a repeat).

OK Matthew. Like you can’t workout with 1 shoe? Heck, I can not workout with no shoes. I can even not workout with 4 shoes, wich would be ridiculus, seeing as how I only have 2 feet. Why do people blog? Why don’t you ever call your poor old broken down Uncle Doug? haha. Nice job on the new CD. Of course, me playing guitar, and singing back-up would be better. LOL

Matthew, that story is hysterical! You’re such a funny guy! Glad you solved the case of the missing shoe. Well done!

That’s so funny! But I think there is more to the story.
9:30am: The shoes got in a fight so the one shoe jumped out because its always right ( not left ). After all it is a gym shoe.
10:00am: The shoe that is left takes off with Matthew. The shoe that is right is happy with his new found freedom.
10:45am: After a while of being away from the left shoe he started to miss him. Thinking to himself, “Its so hard to always be right. I can help it. I was just made that way.”
11:05am: It happened! He was lost but now was found! You found righty and got them back together again. What a happy ending. :-)
Great talking to you at the Seattle concert! You ROCK! Really.

Hahaha, you seem to always have a good story to tell when you’re up in Oregon! I remember the Marie Calendar’s story… Good times! :p
Sorry to have missed you when you were up here. I told myself I have a good excuse, but it’s not really that great of one (minus the not being able to drive part).
See you next time you head up our way! :)
