• A Chance Encounter With A Super Bowl Champ

    This past week I sang at a Pastor’s appreciation lunch in Staten Island, NY. The event was sponsored by Star 99.1, an awesome Christian radio station in New York. Little did I know, the guest speaker for the lunch was none other than David Tyree, wide receiver for the Super Bowl Champs the NY Giants. For those who don’t recognize the name, he was the guy with the miraculous catch late in the game, where he somehow caught the ball between his hand and helmet! It will be an ESPN highlight for many years to come. Anyway, David is a Christian, loves God, and spoke to the pastors that day. It was great to meet him, and I gave him a few pointers on how to play the game… :)

      Mr. West,
      Your concert on March 13th, at the Patriot Center was awesome.My dad and I went, and we both really enjoyed it. I was thrilled when I heard you sing “More”. It is my favorite song. When we moved six months ago from Virginia to Maryland, my world comletley shattered. I loved my middle school, my church, my friends, my house, and I didn’t want to have to leave any of it behind. I felt completely alone, and I had no idea what I was going to do. After church one day, my dad and I heard “More” on the radio. It was then that I realized that I wasn’t alone, and I could prasie God in my sadness. On Friday, I wore your yellow “More” shirt to school. God has blessed me with awesome friends, some who knew what the shirt was about, and had heard the song before. Thanks again, Emelynn

      Hi Matthew. Didn’t know how to reach you, but wanted to try. I can’t thank you enough for the encouragement you gave my husband Eddie and I Sunday night in Tampa. God is good, and used you and your experience to help us with this voice battle. You spoke the words, he needed to hear.
      Have to say..heading to the concert, Emily (11) was all about seeing Toby, after your set…she said..I was wrong, Matthew West is my favorite. Us old folks were glad when a few songs into Toby Mac, she was ready to leave for the 2hr drive home. ;)
      May God continue to bless you and your ministry and thanks again for having something to say and being willing to take time to say it to us.

      Great concert in Tampa!Disappointed you didn’t have more time! I brought my college daughter to the concert to hear some good music!!!! She really loved your music, keep up the good work and messages that you send to young people. Its great to hear your stories and the word from the Bible.
