A Song A Day
May 2, 2008 - Comments (5)Well almost… This week have been intense. I’ve been writing every day this week, and it has been extremely productive. Spent some time with a new band out of Sweden called, Blue Eyes Soul. They have a really cool sound, and we had a really good time together. Also spent some time with my good friends Sam Mizell and Jason Ingram writing. We wrote 2 new tunes, and actually recorded them today. So, that was cool. Not sure where the songs will land, but it just feels good being creative.
Oh yeah, and I also wrote w/ my friend Bernie Herms who just won song of the year for his Casting Crowns hit, “East to West.” He’s awesome. He is working w/ this new artist, Evan Milby and we wrote a really cool song called “Come Home.”
All in all, I learned something this week. Sometimes you feel like the well of inspiration has run dry. those are the times you are most tempted to call it a day, close the note book, and put away the guitar. But this week, I pressed in a little harder, dug the well a little deeper, and was daily surprised to find that there was a song deep inside waiting to be discovered.
Perhaps we might be surprised to find the same result in our journey of faith. When the well seems dry, and the last thing you want to do is pray, or read your bible, what if you dug in a little deeper. Prayed a little harder? What would happen then? I have to believe, in fact I know from experience that just as creativity rewards perserverance, so does faith.
And perhaps that is one of the more trying tests of life and faith. Digging in when you don’t feel like it. A quiet time when you don’t have time. A heartfelt prayer when you’re all prayed out. One more time to the well even though the well looks dry.
This week was a welcomed reminder that the well may look dry, but it’s not. And thank God the well we can go to promises to never run dry-mw

I wait to see you see in concert in Illinois July 26, 2008. I am taking my last PB day from work, but to me it is worth it. Keeping on singing your positive message.
Thanks.

Hello,
I am Dirk. I am living in Holland. I like your daughter! She is so cute. Her songs are very beautiful. I’ve heard them, on the latest CD; ‘Something to Say’.
I’m wondering if she likes me too.. but well.. she don’t know me. She can see a picture of me if she looks http://www.dirkopurk.hyves.nl
I hope she likes me too!
Greetings,
Dirk (and is big sister Alide)

Thank you so crazy much Matthew! I read this the other day and I really needed it. It was the Monday after Spirit West Coast (where I met you, my best friend with the red hair gave you the drawing of the cross… if you remember) and I was just… bleh… exhaused. I had homework and I was just really annoyed with my mom because she was being annoying(duh). And even worse I woke up and just started onto my day. I didn’t do my devotions like I do every morning and it put me in a horrible mood. And I tried to pray, but I was just like… Forget this… because I didn’t feel like seeking God. At all. Any. But this reminded me to keep seeking. And you know what. God showed me some amazing stuff that day and the next day. (Namely a vision of something that I’m supposed to paint)
-Thanks for reading that novel,
Melissa

I help with the youth at my church and 22 of us went to the Revolve Tour in Greensboro, NC last weekend. Evan sang “Come Home”. It was so awesome. Glory to God! Thanks for using your combined God given talents to write such a beautiful song to give Him the honor and praise He deserves. Can’t wait to have my own copy of it to sing to. Keep ‘em coming.
