Maine
August 29, 2008 - Comments (6)I am typing this to the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks down below the house where I am staying here in York, Maine. My family and I have been blessed to enjoy the week vacationing in this amazing little beach town on the Maine coast. The house is old, seven bedrooms. A huge back porch that looks out to the Atlantic. Every night, I have been sitting out on the deck, looking up at the most breathtaking array of stars, not a cloud in the sky. The smell and sound of the ocean is the perfect soundtrack, and at once, the tension in my neck releases, the worries on my mind travel back to Nashville, and the speed of life slows down.
This summer has been a whirlwind. So much so that I you can see I haven’t had time to blog much. Blogging is one of those weird things. I feel bad when I don’t have time to do it, but on the other hand, when I’m living life to the fullest, and keeping busy, that’s the reason why I don’t have time to blog. So, I guess if I had to choose between living life or just blogging about living life, I would choose option A.
With that said, I do promise you, my friends that I will try to write about my experiences as often as possible. And in one of these few moments of peace and quiet I can rewind my mind to capture summer that has passed quickly.
The state of Florida was wonderful to me this summer. The time spent with the Joy FM in Tampa/Sarasota, etc… was so much fun. Freedom Fest in Brooksville was great. I went to South Dakota for Hills Alive Fest. Chatanooga for J Fest, and a whole bunch of other places in between.
I went on a cruise to Alaska a few weeks ago, which I will have to devote an entire blog to at some point. what an amazing trip that was!
Played some shows with Michael W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman, Natalie Grant, and Mandisa, among others. Detroit, Desmoines, and I know I’m leaving some major shows out. Oh yeah, Spirit West Coast in Caifornia, both of them…
Lots of early morning flights, I mean EARLY.
Played Kingdom Bound Fest in NY, for the first time. That was fun.
Now, I will finish the summer with a show in Maine tomorrow, and a fest in South Dakota (souix Falls)
Night of Joy at Disney will be next week followed by a show after the Minnesota Twins game. Both promise to be summer highlights worthy of their own blogs at some point.
But as I have already explored, the truth remains that as long as I am busy living, my blog time may be somewhat limited…
I am thankful that this summer was spent singing, after the silence of last summer. God is faithful. He restores. I am living proof. From a surgery and silence, to a calendar full of concerts to proclaim His Glory!
I know my purpose on this earth. My purpose is to display my wealth of weakness, and reflect his power.

I was excited to see an update and even happier to read it. I cannot fathom the craziness of your schedule, but I love reading about it. We didn’t get to make it to South Dakota for the music festival but we have been listening to the broadcast on K-Love and after listening today I thought I would stop by and say congrats on the new addition on the way, that is so exciting. We have been trying for child #2 for almost 3 years now. It is definitely a journey but if anything it has drawn me closer to God and made my relationship with Him much more complex. In my quiet time with God I have started listening to Safe and Sound. It is a song that I can relate to from the birth of my daughter 6 years ago and something I dream of for our 2nd child. Thank you for that song, it has touched my life in more ways than I can even describe to you! I love the blog…keep it up, in all your spare time! LOL!

I am so glad to see that you are blogging again. I am an avid listener of the Joy FM in Bradenton, Fl. I did get to see you on the summer cruise with Bill, Dave, and Carmen. You are truly and inspiration. I absolutely love your new CD. I play it so much that I may wear it out. Keep up the great music. I look forward to seeing you at Night of Joy at Disney.

My son Alex won tickets from the radio staion 95.3 Worship Radio Network to go to Swiftwaters on Sat., Aug. 30th which was also his 10th birthday. What a day full of blessings! Alex had a great day & was so happy that he got step in to meet Matthew & Brandon Heath just minutes before Matthew had to be on stage to perform. Thank you for taking just a moment for Alex to sign his CD cover & take a picture with him. It meant a lot to him. He couldn’t stop thanking us(mom & dad) for taking him there. We all enjoyed the awesome music! We love your new CD. Hope you enjoyed your stay here in Maine. Can’t wait to see another concert of yours. May God bless you & keep you all safe in your travels.
