• A "Magical" Week

I have just returned home today from a week of traveling. But this week of traveling has been different, to say the least. The band and I played Disney’s Night of Joy on Friday night, but my family and I flew to Orlando a few days early to take advantage of a little vacation time at the Magic Kingdom. My daughter is just old enough now to be aware of what Disney is all about. She got to meet Cinderella, Belle, and Ariel from “Little Mermaid.” It was so much fun to watch her interact with these larger than life characters. She loved meeting Mickey and Minnie, and the whole crew. It was crazy! The folks at Disney treated us with such hospitality, and I always look forward to going back!
We played 2 shows on Friday night in a theatre at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The crowds were awesome! So much energy, and the band and I had a blast.
But the fairytale week at Disney came to an abrupt end when I had to wake up at 5 am on Saturday morning, and fly out to Minneapolis. But don’t feel too bad for me. What I did on Saturday was just as much fun. We played a concert in the Metrodome, right after the Twins baseball game versus the Tigers. You know I’m a huge baseball fan, so being on the field, meeting some of the players, I love all that stuff.

I will post some pictures as soon as I can. Anyway, that was my week, full of fun, (and a little bit of work) but mostly fun…

Now, it’s back to reality, getting ready for the fall tour. Planning our set list, getting the band ready, scheduling rehearsals, stocking up on hair product… just kidding about the last one.

It will be a busy few weeks preparing for the 30 city tour starting to October. Plus, next week, I am going to the Dominican Republic with World Vision on a missions trip. Pray for our safety, as that area has been greatly threatened by hurricanes and tropical storms.

But I can’t wait to see what God has in store for me there in the Dominican, and I look forward to writing all about it.

alright, the Bears are on, gotta go-mw

Matthew West. What can I say about you? When I saw you at Night of Joy in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you told us about your surgery and how everything you had planned stopped. You are an inspiration, because you showed me that even though something bad can happen, to always keep going with what you love. You gave me a whole new outlook on things. Your music, your stories and how positively dedicated you are to everything. Thank you so much. I hope to see you next year.

Although I couldn’t be there for the Disney concert, I have seen you in concert once, and it was amazing! God has definitely gifted you in many ways.
Best of luck with the tour!
And I’ll be praying for you!

p.s. You were rooting for the Bears!?! The Colts are my favorite team… But I was actually glad they lost when I heard Forte say “First of all, I want to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” He probably wouldn’t have gotten the chance to say that yesterday if my team had won.

We loved having you here in Minneapolis! What a fun time praising God in the Metrodome. Definitely a cool experience! Now you’ll have to come back and do another concert for us when we’ve got our new ballpark!!
