• Wide Awake in Virginia

    Well, the summer came to a fitting close last Saturday as the band and I took the stage one last time at one last end of summer festival. Awakening Music Festival in Virginia, just outside of D.C., drew over 7,000 people this year and we shared the stage with Skillet, Newsboys, among others.
    And, I say it was a fitting end to our summer concert tour for 2 reasons.
    1. It was so hot on stage, the soles of my shoes were melting…
    2. It was an incredible festival, great people, and the crowd was awesome!

    So, if you are reading this, and you were at the show, then you were part of the last show of the summer for me, and I thank you!

    I’m home now, with a great big to-do list as I prepare for the Fall “Something to Say Tour.” Picking t-shirt designs, getting guitars worked on, designing the stage and lighting production of the show. So much to be done in these weeks leading up to the tour, and I hope I can get it all done…

    Right now, first things first, I have to take Earl potty. She’s got that crazy look in her eyes… The job of a rock star is never done… Oh, who am I kidding? There ain’t no rock stars in this house!

      You were great Matthew! You have such an inspiring story and such a great stage presence. Thanks for signing my telecaster, and i hope to see you in Virginia(or anywhere in a matter of fact) again sometime!

      It was sooo good to see you again! I saw you at Awakening for the first time..umm..2 years ago..I think it was. (Is that right?)
      Anyways, you were amazing then, and still amazing now! God is soo good..isn’t he?? Even after all you have been through w/ your whole voice thing..God still has blessed you w/ the ability to sing and touch peoples lives w/ the music you sing and write!!..Once again, it was great to see you rocking out at Awakening again this year! I Loved the special little song you wrote for us! It was quite funny..You and your porter potties..lol :)
      Anyways, thanks for coming and singing for us crazy people in VA…despite the hot,humidity,rain,and thunderstorms,it was a great year! Hope to see you again!! :)

      I have to say you were the wonderful out there at awakening fest!It was my first awakening fest and you (and that comedian) we what really changed something in me that day. You song for us crazy people is still with me now(funnist song ive ever sang along to). I used to listen to your music on my chirstian radio station, but i stopped two years ago when things were going bad for me,and i lost God in my life,being at Awkening Fest and hearing all those powerful lyrics really meant the world to me. Im greatful you and your band stood out there for us in the nasty weather (your shoes realy melterd?!) This awakening fest really did reawakin my love of God’s people. Im overjoyed your voice is all back to normal and you can still use your gift to bring God into others lives.

      you were great at the awakening festival. what was the name of that last song you did (“teaching” it to the band as you went along)? Have you recorded it? it still haunts me in my quiet moments – can’t get it out of my head
