Missions Trip Postponed
September 18, 2008 - Comments (2)As some of you may know, this week I was originally scheduled to be in the Dominican Republic and Haiti as part of a missions trip w/ World Vision. Unfortunately, they were forced to postpone the trip due to the recent severe storms and hurricane. They tell me the roads are completely under water, and the areas where we were supposed to go and visit are completely inaccessible.
When I heard the reason for the cancelled trip my first thought was, ‘isn’t that just more of a reason why I should go?’ I can’t stop thinking about what so many people, so many children must be going through in an area that is already in great need, now having to survive more devastation. And this time, people like me who do want to come and help, can’t even reach them.
These recent events have only fueled my desire to make sure the “Something to Say Tour” has something to say about those people, those children who desperately need our help more than ever. I couldn’t think of a better sponsor for this tour, and I can’t wait to see how people respond and say something about poverty, hunger, disease, and the need so many children have!

Matthew- Sorry to hear your mission trip is cancelled and under the circumstances which it happened. I am writing to let you know about an extra stop on your tour you need to make when you get to Merced, California in November…to a class of 4th graders. This year, the class theme in my classroom is “You’ve Got Something To Say” which coincidentally enough happens to be the title of your most recent record and the title track on that record…funny how that worked out.
My school is not in Merced, but rather in Stanislaus County, (Stanislaus, not Santa Claus, you remember that fun fair, and my class has decided that Matthew West is the best. When I try to introduce another song or band, it’s always “Can we listen to Matthew West now please?” And when we sing “You’ve got something to say”, it’s always at least twice, and sometimes they manage a third time.
On a personal note, my husband and I are fans, but not half as big as our daughter Grace. She is a little older that your daughter (I think) because she just turned three on the 6th of Sept. But, she is a huge fan and for the month following the concert, Matthew West was equal with God…When we would discipline her, we always ask questions, like “When we don’t tell ther truth or don’t listen, it makes mommy and daddy sad, but who else is sad…? She answers, “Um, it make Jesus heart sad, and Maffew west heart sad” So we had to explain to her that you really weren’t as concerned with her sins as her Savior was.. Also, we have to listen to Lulu’s song at least once a week, and she sings “I don’t wanna go thru the oceans” instead of motions. Finally, she knows the first couple tracks on your CD, but when something comes on past track 5 she flips out “Me want Maffew West” I try to convince her that it is your CD and all the songs are by you, but she is having none of it, and before you know it we are back at “Wake up, 7:32 am…)Anyways, check your mail because you will soon be receiving some royal invitations to visit 4th graders who have something to say to you…..
Sincerely,
Jenna Miller
